He skied growing up at Wintergreen Resort, which gave him the motivation to attend the University of Montana in Missoula, MT. While he was in college he enjoyed skiing, fly fishing, and duck hunting. He got his degree in marketing with a minor in communication studies. He now does commercial real estate brokerage with Carolina One Real Estate which gives him the flexibility to be a captain on the side. Robert has had a love for the water from a young age. His family does an annual beach trip with their 14’ Starcraft boat and he enjoys fishing with his dad. There was always something about the smell of the salt air that was attractive, so when he moved to Charleston in the summer of 2016 it was the perfect fit. Before owning the Captain’s Choice, he was a part of the Freedom Boat Club and was the first mate on several of his friends’ boats. Captain Robert Sullivan is an avid golfer with a love for the water; so the name is derived from the golf tournament format called captains choice, or scramble.
